History

Hasan Kalyoncu University was founded in Gaziantep, at an important crossroads of the historic Silk Road where different religions, languages, peoples, cultures and civilisations have long come together. The University set out with a focus on “education, research and innovation”, beginning its first academic year with three departments each in the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture and the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences.

In the 2011-2012 academic year, new departments were added to these two faculties, while the Faculty of Law and the School of Health Sciences also began admitting students. The University set out to produce graduates who embrace differences as a source of richness, who research and question, who are committed to the rule of law and democratic values, and who can take their place in the competitive markets of the world. It adopted as a founding principle the commitment to share the scientific knowledge it produces with society and to devote all its resources to solving problems.

The Health, Culture and Sports Directorate represents the reflection of this founding vision in student life. Complementing the University’s educational approach within the campus, the Directorate supports students’ personal, social, cultural, artistic and physical development, helping them grow into well-equipped, self-aware individuals.
